About the Record companies
Remember the good old days when you went to the Music Store and bought a
a record, tape or CD and could play the music on any device in your
house, car or anywhere else? Apparently now everybody is becoming a
criminal (as implied by our "friends" in the record industry) and should
be prevented to play their music on any device they want (The music we
as customers have paid for). Songs you purchase online can only be
played back on devices that are "approved" by Microsoft, Apple or the
record companies. I find it interesting that even though I have spent
several thousands of dollars buying music on "traditional medias", I too
am limited as to where I can play my online music. By limiting where I
can play my "digital purchased music", apparently Microsoft, Apple and
the record companies feel I should be painted with the same brush as
those folks who illegally download music?
Who is stealing from whom?
The final comment on the record Companies is that of Levy's charged on
every CD sold in Canada. I cannot comment on CDs purchased in other
countries, but in Canada there is an additional $0.21 charged on every
blank CD purchased. In our companies we used thousands of Cd's to backup
data, send out promotional videos, etc., all on CDs. Every blank CD
purchase is assessed the $0.21 Levy which is paid to the Record
companies. Interesting how things are regulated in the free world!
So who is stealing from whom?
